TEACHER TRAINING COURSE

This intensive course explores in detail the science behind body and mind and is ideal for those who have always wanted to get an in-depth understanding of all aspects of yoga as traditionally taught in India. Regardless, if you are new to yoga or if you are already a passionate practitioner, if you want to deepen your own practice or if you would like to learn how to share yoga with others in an authentic way- this is the course for you!
 
 
 
This teacher training program is a complete package and covers all aspects of the yoga tradition and teaching methododolgy. The intensive format will allow you to fully immerse in the yogic lifestyle for the duration of the course to experience the transformational power of this ancient practice, supported by the beautiful surroundings in nature and nutritious organic food. Based on ancient teachings we share the basic theoretical and practical foundations that are very useful in becoming a yoga teacher.

The focus of this course is on the authentic teachings of the yoga tradition, including the philosophy and the different paths of yoga such as Hatha, Patanjali's Ashtanga, Bhakti, Karma, Jnana, Kriya, Kundalini, Mantra and Swara Yoga. You will learn the slow, steady and relaxed practice of Asana (yogic postures), proper Pranayama (breathing) and yogic cleansing techniques as described in ancient indian texts (such as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Patanjali's Yoga Sutras) and the chanting of Mantras.

This course is organized and taught in co-opertation with the Yoga Vidya Gurukul, India. The Yoga Vidya Gurukul was founded in 1978 by Yogacharya Dr Vishwas Mandlik as a non-profit organization, inspired and guided by the vision of Swami Satyananda of Bihar School of Yoga, and starting from 1983 yoga teacher training have been conducted there. Since then more than 18,000 yoga teachers in India and 4,500 international yoga teachers have graduated spreading the traditional teachings of yoga into the world.

LOCATION

 
Located in the village of Santana, the house is at 3 km from the lovely coastal town of Sesimbra, Portugal.

Sesimbra is easily accessible by car or bus. There you can go to the beach, enjoy the fantastic grilled fish at the local restaurants, do some shopping or just relax at the many open air cafés.

From here you can access several of the best beaches in Portugal:

Meco Beach, a real 'mecca' for nudists and surfers,
Albufeira Lagoon with excellent conditions for sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and canoeing,
Ribeiro do Cavlo Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal,
Galapinhos Beach, ideal for scuba diving and spearfishing, and
Cabo Espichel, the south-westerly headland of the Setubal Peninsula.

There are small stores, cafés, pharmacy, within walking distance and also large supermarkets nearby (5 min by car).

TEACHERS

Lien Mei is a holistic therapist who uses various techniques of yoga philosophy, Reiki , massage and biomagnetism to awake the healer and the master that we all have within. She started practicing yoga in 2009 and from 2012 on she devoted her life to the study and practice of different ancient philosophies concerned about the mysteries of humanity, the universe, and the nature of divinity. She shares what she knows with joy, passion, and an open heart, always focusing on the present moment.

She has been involved with Yoga Vidya Gurukul for the last nine years, and has spent a lot of time as a student and volunteer at the ashram / yoga community. She is a nomad yogini happy to share the yogic lifestyle and how that change her life for good!

Gandhar Mandlik is the director of Yoga Vidya Gurukul and has been in yoga all his life. Born and raised in India and coming from a family of yoga teachers (his father started YVG back in 1978), he took initiation from his Guru Swami Niranjanananda in 2000. He has is masters in Clinical Psychology yet is passion is for Yoga Psychology and Bhagavad Gita.

Kate Mandlik is the course coordinator for English courses at YVG, where she has been teaching for more than ten years. She is from Australia and has practiced yoga for more than twenty years and was initiated into Karma Sannyasa from Swami Niranjanananda in 2009. She is trained as a naturopath, massage therapist and nutritionist but with great interest in the therapeutics aspects of yoga and yoga lifestyle.

Both of them, as well as other members from YVG, such as Guruji, Mrs Pournima Mandlik, Dr. Prafulla Dorle and Roshan Nagapure will conduct some of the lectures via live Skype connection or similar software. WHO SHOULD APPLY

​

  • Healthy individuals (physically + mentally) with no or minimum experience of yoga and yoga practitioners who want to become teachers.
  • Yoga aspirants who want to learn the Indian Traditional Yoga & its techniques.
  • This course is NOT for someone who is looking for Yoga Holidays or just some Asana practice. This is a full time intensive- 21 consecutive days- course, for a complete immersion into the yoga practice.
  • Minimum age is 18 years. For students over the age of 60 a fitness certificate is necessary.
